Switch to pellets

1. Preparation phase

If you want to switch small birds, such as canaries, finches and budgerigars, to pellets, introduce them to the pellets two or three weeks in advance in preparation. You can add these pellets between their current feed, so they become a bit familiar with the smell and taste. This preparation phase is not necessary for parrots and larger parakeets.

2. Actual switch

Now it’s time for the switch and you no longer mix the seeds and the pellets. Only give your birds pellets, but offer them their trusted seeds every now and then. This is to prevent too much weight loss if they eat less pellets in the beginning. Wait a little longer each time to offer them a bowl of seeds.

3. Nutribird Alternate Day Method

Feed pellets every day, as well as seeds on days 2, 4, 7, 10, 14, 18, 23, 28, 34 and 40. After that time your birds will be completely familiar with the pellets and you will no longer need to add seeds. feed.
