Flaxseed Brown

Linseed is seed of the flax plant, dark or light colored. Contains a high amount of Omega-3 fatty acid, essential for building the plumage. Promotes digestion due to its mucus-forming properties.

Properties:

The seed contains a high percentage of omega 3, which is said to promote the building of feathers in birds. Linseed is therefore fed to birds, usually in winter when the animals can find less food. The amino acid pattern is favourable: the arginine content in particular is high.

Also, the omega-3 fatty acids contribute to human health, since omega-3 fatty acids cannot be produced by the human body. Flax seeds contain a lot of dietary fiber and are therefore also used for weight loss.

However, linseed also contains cyanogenic substances that are converted to cyanide in the human body.

Caution:

Flaxseed contains prussic acid which is toxic if consumed in excess, so it is also important to provide it to the birds in moderation.
