Evening primrose seed is a very fine bird food rich in oily fats and carotenes that is well fed by small birds. Finches, siskins and goldfinches are especially fond of it. For American siskins it is a plant they know from their original biotope. A suitable feeding system is, among other things, the feeding house.

 

Many birds like the seeds of the evening primrose. The seeds are ripe in September and October when the seed pods turn brown. The plant contains a lot of carotene and you can tell by the yellow flowers. Carotene promotes the intensity of the colors in the feathers of the birds, especially the red and yellow tones. The evening primrose seed works wonders for breeding and coloring goldfinches and siskins.

The seeds also contain up to 14% gamma-linolenic acid. And as a result, the following favorable properties are attributed, among other things:
